Calluses are rough areas of hard skin and usually occur around the heel and ball of the foot. They develop when skin rubs against bone, the shoe or the ground.

To avoid callus, moisturise daily with a urea based cream and ensure shoes are are supportive and have cushioned soles. Callus occurs when feet are too constricted in shoes, as well as when feet are not supported enough, such as in shoes that are too wide or have no support at the heal.
